INTRO

Dear Reader.

May I introduce myself. I am--rather--I was Chauncey Sherman Seckner, a dairy farmer in central New York in the early 19th century.  Sadly--I passed on in 1899 at the generous age of 80.

In the following pages, I plan to lead you to stories of my Palatine ancestors--those men and women who, in the early 18th century, participated in the momentous journey from Germany to the Mohawk Valley. Only through their fortitude and forbearance, mixed with generous portions of good luck, did I exist to share their stories with you.

Please feel free to follow along as, through this journal, I will try to give you a flavor of the time in which I and my descendants made our way through life on the farms and small towns of central New York in the beautiful and bountiful Mohawk River Valley.
